The UK Global Talent Visa scheme is tailored for exemplary individuals from the cinema and broadcasting arenas, keen on showcasing their expertise in the UK. Highwood Solicitors acknowledges that potential candidates will be acclaimed as frontrunners in their domain as recognised by the Producers’ Alliance for Film and Television (PACT), representing the Arts Council England.
PACT, representing the Arts Council England, offers endorsement for talents in cinematic production, broadcasting, animation, post-editing, and visual graphics sector.
There’s no preset limit on the endorsements offered under the Cinema and Broadcasting division of the Global Talent scheme.
However, aspirants from the cinematic, broadcasting, animation, post-editing, and visual graphics sectors should display ‘extraordinary talent’. Note: PACT refrains from endorsing those with just an ‘exceptional potential’.
Essentials for the Global Talent Visa in Film and Television Domain
To be eligible for the UK’s Global Talent Visa in the film and television domain, one should:
- Be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Possess an endorsement letter from PACT or have achieved a commendation from the Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes appendix.
- Ensure there’s no violation of the general grounds of rejection.
- Submit a valid TB certificate, if mandated.
The precise criteria may vary depending on individual situations. We recommend consulting with an immigration solicitor for tailored advice.

PACT Endorsement Criteria
Achievements that are recognised by significant awards are key for a PACT endorsement in the film and television sectors. You should meet at least one of the subsequent conditions:
- Achieved recognitions like an Academy Award, BAFTA (limited to Film, Television, Television Crafts, Cymru, Scotland, Games), Golden Globe, or an Emmy.
- In the past decade, received nominations, contributed significantly to a win or nomination of the aforementioned awards.
- In the preceding 15 years, secured a minimum of two nominations for the mentioned awards.
- Achieved significant industry acknowledgments through global distribution sales, media publicity, and a distinct combo of recognitions from PACT’s Significant Industry List.
Given the extensive list of awards under PACT’s Significant Industry List, thorough verification is crucial. Solely securing these awards doesn’t suffice.
Evidence for PACT Endorsement
Your endorsement application should incorporate three recommendation letters.
- The first from a UK-based entity renowned nationally/internationally in the film and televisionry.
- The second, either from a UK-based or international organisation, acknowledged for film and television prowess.
- The third could be an additional letter from a recognised institution or from a distinguished personality with international repute in the cinema and broadcasting sector.
Endorsing letters should originate from senior members familiar with your accomplishments, detailing your contributions and affirming your leadership in the domain.
PACT’s Evaluation Duration
Generally, PACT allocates six to eight weeks from submission for an endorsement decision.
Post PACT Endorsement: Global Talent Visa Application
Upon securing PACT’s endorsement, a span of three months is provided to submit your application for the UK’s Global Talent category.
Transitions to the Global Talent scheme can be made within the UK, with specific visa categories being exceptions. In certain cases, applicants must apply from their home countries.
The Home Office will further evaluate your character and immigration history. Thankfully, there are no maintenance or English language prerequisites for this category.
Leave duration, granted up to five years, can be chosen by applicants. The requested duration doesn’t influence the application but does affect the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Endorsed individuals may qualify for UK settlement after just three years, contingent on residence requirements.
Global Talent in Film and Television: Prestigious Awards Pathway
Certain prestigious award winners can directly apply for the visa, bypassing the endorsement phase. The updated list of these awards can be found in the Global Talent: Prestigious Prizes appendix.
